My theory:
A close group of friends allow other people to join their social circle but a clique has membership and only certain people can join. They can be mean when a new member comes and make things difficult for him/her. (Those who are mean are usually girls, but not all are liddat. Girls who are like that are usually called 'bitchy') I know that cliques cannot be avoided but the least we can do is to mix around with those whom you don't interact often so that the class can be bonded. No offence, though.
Just a random thought: C for 'cliques', B for 'bonded'? Is 1B bonded? O_O lol.
